Job Description:

Essential Functions

  1. Obtains and verifies insurance eligibility prior to patient exams.
  2. Submits exam/material claims to various insurance companies.
  3. Assist patient with finding the proper size frames and lenses according to their prescription.
  4. Assist patients with purchasing decisions.
  5. Properly measures, adjusts and repairs frames and lenses.
  6. Properly documents and retains all required patient paperwork and documentation.
  7. Performs optometric pre-tests and record results.
  8. Receive and stock optical merchandise.
  9. Organize and maintain optical area by following company procedures/policies, utilizing equipment appropriately, properly logging information and necessary paperwork.
  10. Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
  11. Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues.
  12. Deliver outstanding customer service through all patient interactions.

Preferred Skills:

Education and/or experience

  • Active Virginia Optician license
  • Two-plus years of optician experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance companies including Virginia Medicaid
